Crossroads embraces cyclocross in Carine

With the crit racing season over for another year, Crossroads Bicycle Co. has embraced cyclocross by supporting Round 2 of this year’s Numbat Cup.

Organised by WA Cyclocross (WACX), the exhilarating off-road event took place on Sunday 19 April at Carine Regional Open Space, a short sprint from the Crossroads store at nearby Carine Glades Shopping Centre.

Customers and competitors were welcomed at our tent where it was great to catch-up on all things cycling, including one enthusiast who’d just returned from France having watched Paris – Roubaix, one of the 'Monuments' or classics of the European calendar.

Prizes in our free draws included lollies for ‘Little Crossers’, as well as Crossroads-branded caps, T-shirts and other goodies for participants in the Men’s, Women’s, and Master’s categories, who helped make up the day’s near 200 riders.

Many dropped by later to talk about the thrills and spills of the challenging course, which in unique cyclocross tradition comprised grass, dirt and physical barriers, including a particularly snaky, sandy downhill section requiring superb bike handling skills to stay upright!

A tremendous day was enjoyed by all, including the entire Crossroads ‘family’ who collectively achieved a number of podium finishes, in addition to our shop sponsored rider Heyden James who took out second place in the Elite Men’s category.
